The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has taken a firm stance in opposition to non-filers through issuing final notices that would result in the blocking of their cellular SIM cards, mobile phones, and even disconnection of utilities. One of the notices despatched to non-filers states, "You have been notified below section 114B to document your return, failure to comply will result in the disconnection of power, gas, and cellular offerings. Please report your go back at once."
Last warning: FBR ready to cut non-filers’ power, gas, and mobile connections.
Sources screen that the FBR is prepared to put in force strict measures towards non-filers. In the initial phase, cellular SIM cards and cellular phones of non-filers may be blocked. To facilitate this, the FBR will problem an Income Tax General order inside this month.
Furthermore, the FBR is also formulating a method to disconnect the electricity and gas connections of non-filers. However, the FBR currently lacks whole data at the strength connections of non-filers.
When approached for remark, a senior FBR official confirmed that cellular telephones of non-filers can be blocked within this month. However, he did now not provide a specific date for the implementation of this measure.
